“What does criminalizing homelessness accomplish?”

“Over the last few months it seems as though there has been an increase of news articles about communities that are placing some types of bans on homeless activities. Some of communities are even placing bans and restrictions on “regular” folks feeding the homeless in public places.”

Sd HomelessThis is outrageous, I’d like to say it is right up there with it being illegal to feed other peoples parking meters but this is so much worse. Although this post comes from SLO it reminds me much of San Diego. Living Downtown Kerp and I have seen much of the poverty that has stricken our streets. Night after night these poor individuals line up along crowded streets of nightlife with what little possessions they have and try to find a warm spot to spend the evening, it truly is heart breaking and no one deserves such abandonment.  San Diego Homeless are regularly harassed and ticketed – With the number of homeless steadily rising it is unbelievable to think that the powers that be were working on anything else but a  positive solution. Tacking up “Don’t Feed the Homeless” signs- i’d rather tack up pieces of shit who waste time money words and effort on avoiding the problem, rather than find homes for the homeless. String um up downtown we’ll let the hungry eat them.

New stadium for the chargers? Fuck that. They have a stadium. How many people don’t have homes? A Pillow? A toothbrush. How about citizens rally around a real cause.
